Extended School Day

The school day does not end with the afternoon bell at GCES. Students can participate in the extended school day for both enrichment and remediation activities with our local bus route available for a ride home. This service allows for teachers to meet with struggling students in a small group setting to address learning gaps, missing work, low test grades, difficult concepts, and ensure mastery learning. Each teacher is paid a supplement to meet on a weekly basis with students from their class that need additional support. The second purpose of the extended school day is to provide enrichment activities based upon the interests of the students. Examples of enrichment activities include: Introduction to World Languages, Arts and Crafts, Additional Makerspace Time, Specialized Career Technology Education (CTE) programs, Climbing and Fitness Activity Club, Ceramics, Chess/Board Game Club, Music Appreciation, and more!
